Practicing Humility to Avoid Arrogance and Idol Worship
Practicing Humility to Avoid Arrogance and Idol Worship
Positive Christianity Series Episode #109
Paul instructs the importance of having faith in King Jesus Christ who is able to help us prosper growing in virtues including humility. We learn that King Jesus Christ is able to deliver us from temptation and allow us to persevere practicing humility, righteousness, zeal, and fidelity to GOD Almighty. We learn that we are able to resist temptation knowing that the temptations are based on temporary lies attempting to entice to the practice of sin and vices. We learn that the practice of sin does not help individuals and instead causes a decrease of virtues (if there were virtues in the past), increased difficulties, woes, stagnation, and destruction to the unrepentant wicked. This wisdom allows us to know that we can not believe any of the temporary lies that evil speaks. How do we know evil says lies? We learn that if evil is speaking, it is telling temporary lies.
We learn based on the wisdom of the Sacred Scriptures that temptations are based on temporary lies that are never true. We learn that evil tempted Balaam to practice iniquity trying to afflict Israel. We learn that Balaam was tempted to believe that temporary illicit resources were of greater value than the worship and fidelity to GOD Almighty. Balaam was rebuked for going against Israel, and yet destroyed himself by not accepting reproof and believing the temporary lies of evil that stated that temporary resources were of greater importance. We learn that Balaam instructs the practice of adultery and idolatry to Balaak of Moab and they attempt to tempt Moses and Israel.
"GOD is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the path of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry."- 1 Corinthians 10: 13-14
We learn that Moses and the righteous of Israel persevere even amidst temptation because they have fidelity to GOD Almighty and obey the commandments of GOD Almighty instructed to Moses on Mount Sinai. We learn that the righteous did not practice idolatry knowing that practicing idolatry caused the plague that destroyed the wicked idolators that worshiped a golden calf. We learn that they could not practice adultery because some were happily married like Moses and there were righteous individuals that did not want to practice disobedience to GOD Almighty. We learn that adultery and temporary lies were used to attempt to lead to idol worship. We learn that Moses and the righteous persevered while the wicked that practiced adultery and idolatry were destroyed by the plague. We learn that the temptors were destroyed describing Balaam who was destroyed by the sword and the adulterous Moabites that attempted to tempt.
We are able to know why we can not practice sin based on temporary lies. We are able to resist temptation knowing that there is no need to practice sin. GOD Almighty does not speak lies and instead tells us that we are able to persevere with fidelity to the GOD of gods, GOD Almighty. We learn that Moses and the righteous of Israel persevered in the worship of GOD Almighty in the desert were there were no resources, no basic necessities, no protection from the weather, and even hostile nations. Even amidst all this, GOD Almighty does not forsake Moses and the righteous. GOD Almighty guides and leads the righteous of Israel including Moses to the land of Canaan that became the land of Israel. We learn that Moses and the righteous believed the promises of GOD Almighty and persevered with faith and fidelity to GOD Almighty. We learn that there was water from the rocks, bread from heaven and quail, a column of clouds by day to shelter from the heat, a pillar of fire by night to give light by night, wisdom in the instruction of the commandments, protection from hostile nations that practiced idol worship and hostilities, and having true satisfaction and true joy knowing that they were accomplishing the purpose of GOD Almighty. This allows us to know that there is autonomy and freedom from the temporary lies of temptations, sin, and idol worship. We learn that there were also faithless individuals that grumbled and believed the temporary lies of evil that stated that, "GOD Almighty only took them out of Egypt to fall in the desert." We learn that those that believed the temporary lies and had faithlessness and grumbled against GOD Almighty and Moses were destroyed by snakes.
"Now those things took place as examples for us, that we may not desire evil as they did. Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, 'The people sat down to eat and drink and rose to play.' We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer.'"- 1 Corinthians 10: 6-10
