Elijah tells the people to add water three times to the burnt offering describing that he did not doubt GOD Almighty

"Then Elijah said to all the people, 'Come near to me.' And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that had been thrown down. Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD came, saying, 'Israel shall be your name,' and with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD. And he made a trench about the altar, as could contain two seahs of seed. And he put the wood in order and cut the bull in pieces and laid it on the wood. And he said, 'Fill four jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.' And he said, 'Do it a second time.' And they did it a second time. And he said, 'Do it a third time.' And they did it a third time. And the water ran around the altar and filled the trench also with water. And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, 'O LORD, GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are GOD in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things in your word. Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that you, O LORD, are GOD, and that you have turned their hearts back.'"- 1 Kings 18: 36-37

Elijah repairs the altar of the LORD, prepares the bull for the burnt offering, and calls on the name of the LORD. We learn that GOD Almighty answers Elijah and fire falls from the Heavens and consumes the burnt offering after water had been poured on it three times. We learn that GOD Almighty makes fire fall from the skies proving that GOD Almighty is the GOD of gods. The GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel is the true GOD Almighty

"Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, 'The LORD, He is GOD; the LORD, He is GOD.'"- 1 Kings 18: 38-39

Israel sees that GOD Almighty is the true GOD Almighty and worships GOD Almighty. We learn that the story of Elijah describes the importance of humility and zeal to accomplish the purpose of GOD Almighty. We learn that Elijah did not feel discouraged despite the opposition, persecution, and envy that was happening at the time. We learn that Elijah trusts in the LORD and perseveres with courage reproving Ahab's idol worship, challenging the 950 false prophets to make fire fall from the skies, rebuilding the altar to the LORD, and destroying the false prophets who had persecuted righteous prophets. This wisdom allows us to know that GOD Almighty does not forsake righteous individuals who are humble and practice fidelity to GOD Almighty. We can learn to persevere with boldness preaching truth and reproving sin and idol worship

To the human mind, there would be the question of how could Elijah persevere if the righteous prophets were being persecuted and Obadiah also was concerned about Elijah? Elijah does not feel discouraged and trusts in the Creator of the Highest Heavens, lower heavens, earth, the universe, humanity, creation, and everything. Even while there was persecution from Ahab and Jezebel and the 950 false prophets, Elijah accomplished his purpose with courage and valor. We learn that GOD Almighty does not forsake Elijah and helps him persevere. This wisdom allows us to trust in GOD Almighty and not in the discouragements that evil attempts to cause. Instead of comparing numbers, Elijah trusted in the Eternal and Infinite GOD of gods. Elijah obeys GOD Almighty without doubting, fear, or discouragement. All the people see the fire fall from the skies and consume the burnt offering. We learn that the people of Israel recognize that GOD Almighty is the True GOD of gods. We learn that GOD Almighty judges the false prophets who persecuted the righteous prophets, and Elijah destroys the 950 false prophets. GOD Almighty gives justice and destroys the idolatrous false prophets. For our times that describe the times prior to the great tribulation and/or the great tribulation, we can leave the vengeance to GOD Almighty while we persevere preaching and reproving idol worship, sin, and vices. We learn that King Jesus Christ can give greater vengeance and justice than the vengeance that we could take. For this reason, we can persevere with resiliency and patience knowing that we leave the justice in GOD Almighty's hands. We learn that GOD Almighty is Almighty and also Just

"And Elijah said to them, 'Seize the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape.' And they seized them. And Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slaughtered them there."- 1 Kings 18: 40
