GOD Almighty Judges Wickedness in the Story of Jehu
GOD Almighty Judges Wickedness in the Story of Jehu
Positive Christianity Series Episode #168
"So Jehu struck down all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, all his great men and his close friends and his priests, until he left him none remaining."- 2 Kings 10: 11
We learn in the story of Jehu, the manner that GOD Almighty helps the righteous and judges the wicked. We learn that while Ahab and Jezebel had attempted to lead Israel to the practice of idol worship in polytheism, there were righteous individuals that decided to persevere obeying GOD Almighty. We learn that even when there was persecution of the righteous prophets, GOD Almighty guarded the righteous prophets with Obadiah. This wisdom allows us to know that we can trust in the GOD of gods, GOD Almighty, over everything and do not have to prioritize the cares of the world that describe temporary resources, false 'relationships' that want to lead to idol worship, and idol worship. We learn that Elijah and Jehoshaphat trusted in GOD Almighty and persevered.
We learn that Jehu is the commander of Ahab and Jezebel's army that gets promoted for judging Ahab, Jezebel, Ahab's offspring, and the idolatrous priests of Baal. We learn that Jehu obeys GOD Almighty and destroys the wicked from the land of Israel. This is impressive because while the snake says that everyone sins and practices idol worship so that individuals are enticed to believe temporary lies, the reality is that not everyone practices sin and idol worship. Jehu is able to judge the wicked and removes the false religion of Baal worship that is polytheism. The snake attempts to say that GOD Almighty is not aware of the sin of individuals, when instead there are books being written in heaven concerning the good and evil that each individual has done. For this reason, we can persevere without believing the temporary lies of the snake.
Jehu was able to tell the false prophets that he was going to worship idols, when in reality, Jehu gathered the wicked for destruction. We learn that Jehu is favored and blessed because of his obedience to GOD Almighty. While the snake says that everyone is wicked and an idol worshiper, we know that is a blatant lie. The false prophets are destroyed and the false religion of polytheism is removed from Israel. We learn that Jehu is described being an individual that is favored and blessed for having zeal and fervor for the obedience to GOD Almighty. This describes that we can persevere with fidelity to GOD Almighty without having to practice idol worship and sin that tries to lead to envy, coveting, past resentments, hate, anger, deceit, malice, temporary lies, falsehoods, lust, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, greed, avarice, slothfulness, arrogance, and vices that lead to destruction of the wicked.
"Then Jehu assembled all the people and said to them, 'Ahab served Baal a little, but Jehu will serve him much. Now therefore call to me all the prophets of Baal, all the worshipers and all his priests. Let none be missing, for I have a great sacrifice to offer to Baal. Whoever is missing shall not live.' But Jehu did it with cunning in order to destroy the worshipers of Baal. And Jehu sent throughout all Israel, and all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left who did not come. And they entered the house of Baal, and the house of Baal was filled from one end to the other. He said to him who was in charge of the wardrobe, 'Bring out the vestments for all the worshipers of Baal.' So he brought out the vestments for them. Then Jehu went into the house of Baal with Jehonadab the son of Rechab, and he said to the worshipers of Baal; Search, and see that there is no servant of the LORD here among you, but only the worshipers of Baal. They went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings."- 2 Kings 10: 18-24
We learn that Jehu is able to persevere because he decided to obey GOD Almighty above everything. We learn that Jehu was able to remove the wicked. Jehu was able to obtain favor and had authority by GOD Almighty to be king of Israel. We learn that GOD Almighty allows us to know with the story of Jehu that GOD Almighty does not forsake the righteous and judges wickedness when GOD Almighty decides. We learn that GOD Almighty guarded righteous prophets including Elijah. While there was persecution, GOD Almighty allows us to know that there is justice and vengeance. For this reason, we can not believe the temporary lies of the snake that says that GOD Almighty does not pay attention to an individual's life. The snake says this so that individuals think that individuals can practice nihilism and atheism and that GOD Almighty is not aware. Instead, we know that GOD Almighty is very aware of each individual's choices and is able to give justice to the righteous against the wicked seen in the story of Jehu. For this reason, we also persevere obeying the commandments of Moses with sincerity of heart even if idolatrous and wicked individuals do not want to obey. This is because we know that GOD Almighty judges the wicked when GOD Almighty decides. Meanwhile, we are able to persevere with gratitude and obedience to GOD Almighty similar to Elijah and Jehoshaphat who left the vengeance to GOD Almighty.
