Acknowledging the Importance of Virtues in the Proverbs 

Positive Christianity Series Episode #206


The Proverbs of Solomon describes that the fear of the LORD allows us to develop wisdom. Worshiping and obeying the GOD of gods allows us to develop other virtues that help us persevere in the path of eternal salvation. We learn that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, obeying the commandments of Moses, and hating evil. We learn that the writings of Job, Proverbs, and Psalms of David describe the importance of developing true wisdom. While there are false doctrines of hate and lust that want to lead to the path of destruction, we choose to persevere obeying the commandments of Moses instead. We learn that virtues also help us persevere with fidelity to GOD Almighty that prevent vices from developing in the practice of sin and idol worship. 

"Then you will understand righteousness and justice, and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul."- Proverbs 2: 9-10

The worship of GOD almighty allows us to develop virtues that can improve and help us understand the truth, knowledge, and wisdom that exist in obeying the commandments of Moses. We learn that loving GOD Almighty above everything and respecting humanity allows us to develop wisdom and insight that helps us understand the importance of counsel, reproof, wisdom, and correction. We are able to understand that GOD Almighty speaks truth while the snake only speaks temporary lies.  We can go to Scripture to remind us of the truth that only the worship of GOD Almighty helps us improve with favor, blessings, wisdom, and fidelity to GOD Almighty. 

We learn about the importance of righteousness and integrity in our lives. We learn that the worship of GOD Almighty allows us to understand the importance of righteousness and integrity so that we practice ethics and morality. This wisdom describes that the obedience to the commandments of Moses allows us to practice true equality and equity that prevents us from being envious and covetous seen in false doctrines of lust and hate. We learn that idolatry teaches individuals to be arrogant, irresponsible, envious, and hypocritical. We can choose to remove negative information, false doctrines, and be far apart from false prophets that want to lead to the practice of sin. Righteousness prevents us from practicing sin and idol worship. We learn that virtues prevent vices. The practice of wisdom in obeying the commandments of Moses prevents foolishness. 

"Discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you."- Proverbs 2: 11

We learn that GOD Almighty is impartial and does not accept bribes. We learn to value the importance of justice and equity. We learn that we can not be partial and unethical because it only leads to the road of destruction. We learn that discretion means having sound judgment meaning we choose to worship and obey GOD Almighty rather than practice foolishness and idolatry. We learn that wisdom and discretion allows us to persevere in the path of eternal salvation. We learn that David's life describes the need to avoid idolatry. The life of Job describes the need to trust in GOD Almighty above everything. We learn to avoid foolishness, wickedness, evil, envy, coveting, avarice, deceit, greed, arrogance, stinginess, hate, anger, malice, lust, intemperance, temporary lies, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and irresponsibility,  that tries to lead to the road of destruction.
