Denying Temptations (Fame)
Denying Temptations (Fame)
Positive Christianity Series #249
The Proverbs give sound wisdom about avoiding the road of destruction and choosing to accept correction and reproof. While there are temporary lies that try to lead to the practice of sin and idol worship, we need to keep encouraging Scripture verses in our mind and remember to obey the commandments of Moses. We are able to distinguish wisdom from foolishness. We can distinguish eternal truth from Scripture from the temporary lies of idol worship.
"The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the treacherous are taken captive by their lusts."- Proverbs 11: 6
Scripture reminds us to avoid the road of perdition by choosing to worship GOD Almighty above everything. We can learn to avoid idolatry and adultery. We can persevere practicing righteousness and hating evil. This wisdom allows us to be far apart from envy, iniquity, idolatry, and adultery.
"There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the path; whoever hates reproof will die."- Proverbs 15: 10
The story of Keith Moon, who was the drummer of the rock band the Who, describes how fame can try to lead to the practice of sin and idol worship. Keith Moon was young and a drummer who was known for playing the drum set. While having fame, Keith Moon would use illicit drugs and practice lust. The practice of sin and idolatry led Keith Moon to practice fornication and adultery and led to the road of destruction.
Keith Moon would die at an early age from a drug overdose describing the manner that the practice of sin, idolatry, self-worship, and adultery lead to destruction. There is the need to avoid idolatry and not believe the temptations of the snake. We learn that while the snake says temporary lies that fame is needed to have an important life, it does not say that fame can lead to self-worship, intemperance, alcoholism, illicit drug use, lust, fornication, adultery, envy, and the road of perdition. Keith Moon died in his late twentys and describes the need to be highly skeptical of the temporary lies of the snake that wants individuals to practice idolatry and vices based on deceit. This wisdom prevents us from thinking that idol worship can substitute for the worship of GOD Almighty.
