Favor and Blessings in the Worship of GOD Almighty
Positive Christianity Series Episode #303
GOD Almighty tells us to persevere practicing sound wisdom and prudence by worshiping GOD Almighty above everything of this temporary imperfect world. We learn from Job, David, and Solomon that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and all those who practice it have a good understanding. We learn that after Rehoboam had practiced idolatry and had difficulties with Shishak of Egypt, he decided to repent of his sin and idolatry with sincerity of heart. Rehoboam acknowledged that the practice of idol worship did not help him and returned to the worship of GOD Almighty. Initially because Rehoboam was faithful to GOD Almighty, he was increasing in might and power. Rehoboam decided to forsake the worship of GOD Almighty and declined in might and power practicing idolatry. Rehoboam forsook the worship of GOD Almighty and began to have difficulties and decided to repent of sin with sincerity of heart going to prayer.
"My son, do not lose sight of these- keep sound wisdom and discretion."- Proverbs 3: 21
The story of Rehoboam instructs us wisdom that we can not practice idol worship that is foolishness. Rehoboam decreased in might because he decided to forsake sound wisdom and prudence. Rehoboam forsook extolling GOD Almighty and practiced sin and idol worship that decreased his power. We learn that keeping faith to GOD Almighty allows us to persevere with everything that we need including virtues that keep improving each day. We have everything that we need in the glorification of the GOD of gods, GOD Almighty.
"And they will be life for your soul and adornment for your neck."- Proverbs 3: 22
Had Rehoboam kept fidelity similar to David, he would not have had difficulties with Shishak of Egypt. The story of Rehoboam instructs us to trust in GOD Almighty who is our might and not in our own might. The positive side of Rehoboam's story is that Rehoboam saw that idolatry offers no improvements and repented of his sin. Rehoboam repented with sincerity of heart and was able to keep his kingdom, have authority, and persevere with autonomy. Rehoboam instructed Abijah in the worship of GOD Almighty and the true faith. Abijah accepted correction and reproof seeing that Rehoboam repented and decided to persevere with zeal.
We learn that because Abijah was zealous for the worship of GOD Almighty, Jereboam goes to intimidate and harass Abijah. Jeroboam had instructed the worship of two golden calves to the northern ten tribes of Israel that is idolatry and had created his own idolatrous priests that were not from the tribe of Levi. Jeroboam created his own false religion and had envy that Abijah was thriving and prospering. Despite Jeroboam having envy, practicing idol worship, having more resources, having an army of 800,000 soldiers, and even ambushing the soldiers of Abijah, Abijah defeats Jeroboam and his army in the worship of the true Eternal and Infinite GOD of gods. Abijah does not get discouraged by Jeroboam's intimidations, and thrives through extolling GOD Almighty. Abijah only had 400,000 soldiers and yet conquers through his zeal (2 Chronicles 13). Abijah similar to David decides to trust in the Creator and LORD of all, GOD Almighty. Abijah was able to prosper in the worship of GOD Almighty above everything. Abijah reminded his circumstances that GOD Almighty is greater than everything. Jeroboam would decline and be destroyed for his idol worship and harassment of Abijah. If the worship of GOD Almighty is all we have, GOD Almighty is all we need.
"For we keep the charge of the LORD our GOD, but you have forsaken him."- 2 Chronicles 13: 11
