Denying Temptation (Fame)

 Denying Temptation (Fame)

Positive Christianity Series Episode #308

GOD Almighty instructs us to practice wisdom and fidelity. We learn that practicing righteousness prevents us from practicing foolishness and wickedness. Scripture reminds us that GOD Almighty makes justice and is watching over everything that is happening on earth all of the time. GOD Almighty is Omniscient and Omnipresent among other qualities that the human mind can not understand.

"Whoever practices righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor."- Proverbs 21: 21

Practicing righteousness and integrity keeps us in the path of life and helps us avoid iniquity and the path of perdition. Loving GOD Almighty above everything guards us from being in the path of the wicked where there is bitterness, envy, deceit, coveting, and division. The wicked hate peace and harmony and cause strife and conflict for no reason. One of the manners to know that someone practices idolatry is that they foment division and also hate that people can live in harmony with others. Idolators love to revile and insult others to decrease their self-esteem but get offended when they are on the receiving end describing that they hate equality and harmony. (Idolators hate that others can improve their lives and be glad.)

"Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked; whoever guards his soul will keep far from them."- Proverbs 22: 5

The story of Jean Harlowe describes that it is better to avoid bad company than be a part of the wicked. The snake wants to deceive and lead to worse sin. Harlowe was an actress in the 1930s. She started acting when she was discovered by the socialist and crime propaganda producer, Howard Hughes. Harlowe made crime propaganda movies for Hughes being one of the actresses in his production company. Harlowe was close to Hughes and most likely a wicked individual. The films of Hughes were crime propaganda and probably did not do too well being that individuals preferred Western movies and better movies with values and morality. Hughes blamed the bad movie reception not on the production company or himself but on the actors. Hughes blamed Harlowe for the bad movie reception, and she was no longer contracted by the company. Harlowe went to MGM studios where she began to make comedy movies instead.

Harlowe began to increase in fame and popularity. The movie studio MGM told her to dress in a more modest manner during her acting scenes because in the 1930s individuals dressed in a modest manner. She would dress in immodest clothing and was told to dress appropriately (It could be that the immodest clothing was in order to lead to lust and attempt to cause individuals to wear immodest clothing. However, the MGM studios in 1930 did not allow for that style of clothing.) In the 1930s everyone dressed in a modest manner congruent with having values and integrity. Harlowe may have kept practicing iniquity despite correction. Harlowe married an executive of MGM who died two months after the marriage (it is unknown if he committed suicide or not.) Harlowe would die at a young age being 26 years old. It is also unknown if she completely avoided Hughes or if she kept a relationship with Hughes after being released from his company. Harlowe was improving in the acting business with comedies in MGM being regarded as one of the bigger actresses of the time instead of acting in crime propaganda. Hughes may have had envy despite having released her from his production company. Harlowe's life describes that it is better to persevere far away from wicked individuals and not practice sin. Harlowe did crime propaganda, tried to instruct an immodest dress code in the 1930s, may have still been close to Hughes despite having been released from his company, and most likely was wicked. The practice of sin leads to destruction.

"Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished."- Proverbs 16: 5

Learning Hebrew

Takema, חכמה, means wisdom in Hebrew. The Books of Job, Psalms, and Proverbs describe that loving GOD Almighty above everything, the fear of the LORD, obeying the commandments of Moses, and hating evil is the beginning of wisdom. We learn that all those who practice wisdom have a good understanding. We learn that wisdom prevents us from practicing sin and envy. We are supposed to be far apart from the practice of wickedness, idolatry, idolators, and false doctrines of lust and hate. Wisdom allows us to know that fidelity to GOD Almighty is the most important virtue that we have because fidelity allows us to persevere with eternal salvation in King Jesus Christ. We also do not believe the lies of the snake that says that the increase of wisdom and virtues is because of oneself. We learn that Solomon believed this lie and became idolatrous. We learn that David had more wisdom than Solomon because he never practiced idolatry a single day of his life. Fidelity is most important.
